Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, Robert. When he dies, she has more than grief to deal with: There’s her estranged sister, Claire, and Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that Robert left behind. And a further problem: How much of her father’s madness – or genius – will Catherine inherit?

The Problem: Adapting a pre-packaged, licensed sound design to fit a specific venue's unique acoustic footprint while ensuring scene transitions feel seamless, punchy, and precisely timed.

The Concept: Dynamic sonic pacing—sculpting and timing each transition cue to completely cover the physical scene shifts before gracefully ducking into a transparent underscore that supports the emotional undertones of the dialogue without stepping on the actors.

  • Spatial & Level Adaptation: Took a pre-existing licensed design and meticulously re-engineered it to match the specific geometry and acoustic quirks of the performance space.

  • Timing & Transition Sculpting: Edited and paced every cue to lock in step with the rhythm of the set changes, driving the energy forward during shifts and fading smoothly into the background.

  • Balanced Underscoring: Dialed in precise dynamic levels so the soundscape serves as an active bridge between scenes rather than a distraction from the dramatic tension.
